Hello, friends! I wanted to share my personal blog with you -- 525,600 Minutes -- My new year's resolution was to write more, and so I decided to blog for a year and see what happens! Why do you need so many blogs? You might be asking ... Well, that's a good question! The posts right here on this website are to keep you up to date with my ongoing journey to Broadway ... My professional musings, if you will. This other blog is to give a voice to my personal victories and struggles. In looking back on recent years, I realized that I don't have a lot to show for the steps (both forward and backwards) that I took ... it's as if they didn't even happen. I don't want any more years to go by in such a blur that I don't learn from my mistakes, and keep track of my emotional/intellectual/etc. breakthroughs! So, if you like showtunes and/or want to learn more about my life -- check it out!

Blessings, all!
Remember to look on the bright side of life today ... [Even if the sun isn't shining]!

Hey, gang! It's been crazy in the life o' Suzy these days -- I had my directing debut with "Sleeping Beauty and the Beast" last month (it was SO MUCH FUN!) which was a huge success and a great experience; I'm so grateful for your support [YOU helped make it a success]! And while I LOVE directing I'm anxious to get back onstage -- I'll have an announcement this next month about a couple fun projects that I have up my sleeve for this summer!
I've also been putting together a studio in Salem (I know! So exciting!) and we're officially open for business =D I'll be teaching voice and theatre at Rising Star Studios -- both individual lessons and group classes. There's even been talk of putting together a musical theatre camp over the summer for all levels -- beginner to advanced -- if you're interested, let me know! I'd love to gain enough interest to make it happen THIS YEAR!

The sunshine is shining -- and I think the Vitamin D is just what I needed. I have been so productive the last couple days -- how about you? I love it! No matter what you have on your schedule ~ be a STAR today!

Well, a lot has happened in the last couple months -- The Wizard of Oz was a terrific success && I am so grateful to have been a part of the production! Sleeping Beauty and the Beast is shaping up -- with just a month left of rehearsals, I can't wait to see everything come together on stage! In case I haven't mentioned it already: I absolutely LOVE directing. I have a stronger appreciation for theatre than I did before (hard to imagine, but it's true!) and I feel that I'm becoming a stronger actress because I have a more complete sense of what it means to embody a character, look anchored on stage, and be present even when you are not involved in the primary action on stage. It's also making me more articulate as I work to get my vision across to the students, costumer, hair & makeup personnel, lights & sound operators, set painters, etc. I am starting to find my "directing style" and it's exciting to see everyone start to shine as they become more confident and creative in their roles.

Today is full of possibilities.
It is also 11/11/11 ... which is just plain cool. =)

Rehearsals are well underway for "The Wizard of Oz" -- only 3 weeks till opening night! So exciting! It's always fun to see a show develop and watch the characters come alive and this show is no different! I'm loving every minute working with the cast, crew and directing staff.

Speaking of which -- I'm going to be directing a show pretty soon!
Auditions for "Sleeping Beauty and the Beast" are in a couple weeks and I'm working on getting everything in order -- I felt like a kid at Christmas when I got my box of scripts =) I'm really excited about working with mah SC drama peeps to create a "you'll fall out of your chair it's so funny" show!

Enjoy today && remember: Today is full of possibilities.
Try something new, be spontaneous, give random acts of kindness...

Well, it's been about a week since "Fight Night" and I still can't believe how much fun it was! I had the opportunity to sing a number from a new musical that will be presented at Fertile Ground 2012: a new works festival presented by PATA (Portland Area Theatre Alliance). I'm so excited to see it -- I even had the opportunity to meet the writers at "Fight Night" and let me tell you: Billy & Steve Rathje are names you're gonna want to remember. So buy passes for the festival in January and come hang out with me whilst supporting new works in our talented local community!
Seriously, guys -- In case you haven't already noticed: I can't wait to work with PATA (Portland Area Theatre Alliance) again! I was so inspired by the incredible sense of community that they are able to maintain between all these different theatre groups, and as a newcomer to the Portland theatre scene I was welcomed with open arms -- I didn't feel like the odd-man-out at all. So, thank you, Portland -- and thank you to all the incredible, amazing people I met and performed alongside at "Fight Night" ... You are all incredible, fantabulous, splendiferous, amazing people; I applaud each and every one of you and look forward to your future successes.

Hello, all!

This is the start of my blog --- yay!
Right now, I'm working as Props Mistress for At First Sight at Albany Civic Theatre -- and next week I'll be at auditions for The Wizard of Oz at South Albany High School. Everything is starting to pick up now that fall is right around the corner, so my brain feels a bit frazzled -- but in a couple weeks I'll get back in the groove and life will be grand! I have a lot of things planned for this year theatre-wise, so it's bound to be pretty exciting around here. Stay tuned for more theatre ramblings, updates, and general musings about the life of me.

These are the musings of a future Broadway leading lady (is that presumptuous? maybe... but let's just call it "optimistic", shall we?) and a chronicle of the journey (detours?) that got her there...
